Stringent Specifications
All manufactured homes built in the U.S. are constructed in accordance to the HUD Code, a building code established by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Development. The purpose of the code is to establish a uniform set of construction and performance specifications to ensure the proper design and safety of all manufactured housing. The code covers every aspect of construction of the home, including mechanicals such as plumbing, heating, air conditioning and electrical systems.
Thorough Inspection Process
Each home is inspected throughout the construction process, not only by the manufacturer’s inspectors, but also by an independent, third-party inspector. Upon completion of construction, every home receives a certification label certifying that the home has passed one of the most thorough inspection processes in the home building industry and is in full compliance with the HUD code.
Extraordinary Value
Manufactured homes offer extraordinary value for homebuyers, with an average savings of 10% to 35% over comparable site-built homes.
Construction Process
All materials and finishings used to construct manufactured homes are purchased in volume to maximize savings. Plus, the inventory of materials is better managed and controlled and the materials themselves are protected from weather-related damage and the effects of varying humidity levels. Finally, with electrical, plumbing and every other construction process completed at a single site, scheduling hassles that can slow typical site-built construction are virtually eliminated.
“Green” Housing
The controlled construction environment results in less waste during in the building process of manufactured homes. In fact, manufactured home construction results in approximately 30% less waste than a comparably-sized site-built home.
Each manufactured home is constructed to HUD code standards for energy efficiency, translating directly into energy savings for the homeowner. Features such as insulated floor cavities, cellulose insulation, high efficiency furnaces and air conditioners, whole-house ventilation systems and vented ceiling cavities provide exceptional climate control and meet or exceed industry standards for maximum energy efficiency.
For those seeking even greater energy efficiency, EnergyStar© certified homes are available through most home manufacturers. These homes are typically 20-30% more energy efficient than standard manufactured or site-built homes.
